Jason Derulo’s Talent Manager Seeks Dismissal from Lawsuit, Denies Wrongdoing

Los Angeles, CA December 28, 2023

In response to the lawsuit filed by aspiring singer Emaza Gibson against singer/songwriter Jason Derulo, his record company Future History, and co-defendants Atlantic Records and RCA Records, attorneys representing Derulo’s personal talent manager, Frank Harris, have submitted court papers seeking dismissal from the litigation.

Emaza Gibson alleges in her lawsuit, filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court, that Jason Derulo hired her in 2021, promising to produce multiple music albums as part of a joint venture with Atlantic Records and Future History. Gibson further claims that she faced threats and termination after resisting Derulo’s alleged sexual advances.

Frank Harris’ attorneys argue that their client’s involvement in the matter is limited to a few conversations with Gibson and her mother. In court papers filed with Judge Kerry Bensinger on Wednesday, Harris’ legal team contends that even if these conversations are considered true, they are insufficient to hold Harris liable for any claims raised by Gibson.

“As a matter of law and fact, (Harris) has no place in this litigation,” assert Harris’ lawyers, emphasizing the tangential nature of Harris’ alleged involvement.

Gibson’s claims against Harris encompass breach of contract, retaliation, violation of civil rights, and failure to prevent harassment. In response to the allegations, Derulo, 34, previously took to social media to vehemently deny Gibson’s accusations.

“I wouldn’t normally comment, but these claims are completely false and hurtful,” stated Derulo. “I stand against all forms of harassment, and I remain supportive of anybody following their dreams. I’ve always strived to live my life in a positively impactful way, and that’s why I sit here before you deeply offended by these defamatory claims.”

As the legal proceedings unfold, Harris’ legal team seeks a swift dismissal, maintaining their client’s innocence and lack of substantive involvement in the allegations brought forth by Gibson.
